Who would think that in a community would have a pub and restaurant with live music that opens until after midnight. The Ghetto is located on the second floor at the far corner of the Nine, a community mall on Rama IX road. It is the kind of place that will serve delicious dinner to office workers in area but there is more to it. The live band playing a variety of chill yet lively of Thai and International music. On my first visit to the Ghetto, I was most impressed with the food. The selections are westernized fusion types of food. Moreover, their cocktails and draft beers can make the experience at the Ghetto even more electrifying. The name Ghetto sounds like a low part of town with unpleasant environment but the atmosphere of this restaurant is not like that. Graffiti mural is the only “Ghetto” character but it acts as the modern decor of this restaurant. Low lighting and the textured brick wall makes the interior feel industrial and rugged. All sums up to quite a hip ambience.

The food is great. My favorite dish is the Fresh salmon with wasabi dressing. This menu is great with cold beers after work. Its spicy and refreshing taste is a total exhaust cure. Spaghetti is flavorful. I like the Spicy spaghetti with Isaan sausages. The fermented sausages from Northeastern region of Thailand. Another good menu to try is the Pizza with fried pork. There is crispy fried shredded lemongrass as the topping as well.

On this visit, I main had the Hoegaarden beer that was on special, 2 pints free half pints. Other than the mainstream beer choices, there are a great choices of well fixed cocktails. Our friends had Pink Lady, Blue Hawaii, and Gin Fitzz. The Pink Lady is definitely the girl’s favorite; it is served pink in martini glass, looking elegant. A refreshing one is the Gin Fizz. Blue Hawaii is nice and strong. These cocktails are mixed with generous amount of alcohol. So, I am sure that you will leave this place a bit tipsy.

My friends and I really enjoyed our time at the Ghetto. The whole experience is made up of good food, relaxing atmosphere, caring service, and cute host. The live music also sets a real vibrant mood. In my opinion, this place is perfect for hanging out after work, a place for stress reliefs. If you work nearby Rama IX area, stop by to chill with friends one night and I promise that you will like it.
