Crystal Jade Golden Palace - Chinese Restaurant on BumRes.com

The Crystal Jade Golden Palace - being one of the Crystal Jade’s business management in Thailand, this flagship restaurant has been around ever since the opening of the Siam Paragon.  The original location is in Singapore, where the atmosphere is much more loud and chaotic due to the Chinese culture of the locals (compared to the branches in Thailand).  Within the management, there are two other locations in Bangkok; Prompong and Ratchaprasong.  Prior to experiencing the Crystal Jade Golden Palace, I had always the great impression that it was an extravagance place to go for gourmet Chinese meal.  For being out of my league during the school years during that time, I never had the chance to try it out until recently.

The actual cooking style at Crystal Jade, I am not sure what region of China it is from exactly since I had never seen this style anywhere.  I must say that the style has a bit of fusion incorporated with the tradition Cantonese.  Menu at Crystal Jade has quite a variety to offer, similar to many typical gourmet Chinese in the Yaowarat area (details of the menu can be seen in the tab menu as usual).  Customer service of this restaurant was below average for the restaurant of this class.  Servers lacked of intention and they also didn’t seem to be so friendly.  However, the service was still passable.   Each tables at the restaurant had much privacy with the standing curtain defining the area.  Interior design of this place was very upscale and exclusive.  Atmosphere was luxury enough show off your guests coming from foreign countries.

On this visit, I went there with my mother and we only ordered four dishes.  First dish was the pork belly with the carrot wrap.  This particular choice was originally driven by attractive menu picture.  But, when the food was served, the actual dish looked a bit different.  About the taste of this dish, it was weird and not delicious both the look and the taste.  Second one was actually my favorite choice from the previous visit; Broccoli with the shrimp head oil impressed me from the last visit.  The dish was just as good as last time; fresh broccoli and excessive amount hot shrimp head oil.  It was like a dream to me.

The third dish was the Cold tofu with preserved egg, which was also fantastic.  Somehow the cold tofu (natural flavor) complimented the saltiness from the preserved egg with harmony.  Last one was the Yang Jow Fried Rice.  In the fried rice, I had no idea what exactly were the core ingredients.  And to be honest, I don’t understand why I like it so much.  Wherever I go, I always have to order this exact menu.  And most Chinese restaurants rarely ever disappointed me.

Total damage of this meal at Crystal Jade Golden was 1,094 Baht, which included the VAT + service chare like other places in the mall.  Overall, I was pretty impressed with the whole experience.  Atmosphere was wonderful and lively.  The food was acceptably delicious quickly prepared.  With the customers filling up the whole restaurant, I was so surprised how all of the food was served within ten minutes.  The restaurant must have many chefs working or the chefs just cook really fast
