Hagi - Japanese Cuisine on BumRes.com
Hagi is the official Japanese restaurant of the Sofitel Centara Grand @ Ladprao. As I have done some research about this hotel, they have almost every popular nationality restaurants. Besides French, they have Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Italian – as well as Romantic with European dishes and a simple Tea café – So many to choose from, so great. About Hagi Japanese restaurant – they serve buffet on the weekend at 700 baht per person. A la carte menu is always available if you don’t feel like having too much food.
Interior design of Hagi Japanese Restaurant @ Sofitel Centara Grand is beautiful and luxurious, well deserved to be in the Sofitel. Private room is also available besides the regular tables in the common area. Workers were wearing Ukata to add on to the overall Japanese concept. However, the Ukata didn’t make the service as great as in Japan at all. I have to comment that the customer service at Hagi needs some improvement. About the food of Hagi Japanese – at first I was going to go for the buffet since I saw an expansive list but I decided to go for the a la carte menu. Details of the a la carte menu can be found in the tab menu as usual.
My choice was the bento set, which contained the Nigiri (with Thai fish) as a starter. At first glance, I knew that the fish wasn’t any good. And I was right, the quality was low. Mainstream Japanese restaurants in average shopping malls can do better. Other food in the Bento box was also plain simple. Soba was not bad, better than most. For my mom’s set, the grilled Saba was actually pretty delicious; perfectly grilled and the glazing was tasty. I also order Sashimi on the side but the fish quality was like the fish in the bento, not so impressive. The salad that I ordered also failed. It was the seafood on top that disappointed me. Lettuce was in large size, which was difficult to eat. I don’t know what else to say about Hagi. The frown on my face could tell you more.
For a simple Japanese meal at Hagi @ Sofitel Centara Grand, I have to say that they failed the test. If the quality of the a la carte is this bad, I can’t imagine the buffet. I talked to a friend of mine after visiting Hagi and he actually told me that buffet at Hagi is terrible. For any of you, who have gone to this restaurant, please kindly share with me about your experience. For me, I don’t know if I could give them a second chance.
