LIU - Chinese Restaurant on BumRes.com
Today I got a chance to go to the Liu, an official Chinese restaurant of the Conrad Hotel. For a while, I have been seeking for the best place to enjoy a Dim Sum Buffet and a good friend of mine suggested the Liu at Conrad Hotel. About two weeks ago, I was just at the Drinking Tea Eating Rice – a Japanese restaurant of the Conrad Hotel. I never thought that I would come back to this hotel so quickly. The Liu is located on the same floor as the Drinking Tea Eating Rice, the Third Floor. I arrived to the restaurant at noon, the place was so busy. Being inside a five star hotel, the decoration was very Chinese but a very classy style. Servers were wearing traditional style Chinese clothing to match with the whole concept. Service staffs were nice and friendly. They took good care of us; recommended popular dishes, refilled our drinks, and constantly clearing out the plates. The Liu is well deserved to be in the five starred Conrad Hotel on the Wireless Road.
As far as I know, the Liu Chinese restaurant is offering the lunch buffet on the weekdays (I am not sure if they also serve the same buffet on the weekends). There are two sets of buffet to choose from; 580++ and 780++ Baht. Both of which serves unlimited Dim Sum but other Chinese dishes included in the sets were different. The 780 Baht has free refills of the Chrysanthemum tea. In the cheaper set, you could buy the free refills of tea separately for 60 Baht. My plan today was to guzzle down as much Dim Sum as possible, so I mostly focused on the Dim Sum. I barely ate other special menus included in set since I knew that I could pack it home, lol… About my impression on all the food of Liu, you can see my photos and the caption. There were so many dishes; I couldn’t go over all of them individually. All the Dim Sum baskets were served hot right to our table shortly after we ordered. Each of them looked appetizing (some of them were new to me). Serving size was perfect; not too big – not too small.
On this visit, I was with my family; there were four people. All of us ate past our adequate limit. I mean we were complaining about how good the food was and how stuffed we were. We will probably skip dinner tonight, lol… As a courteous, my mother tipped one server extra because she was so impressed with the service. Total cost of this meal was 2,800 Baht; two of us chose the 780++ set and the other two had the 580++ set. With the SCB Beyond Platinum card, we received 15% discount. If I remembered correctly, Citibank card will give you 10% discount also. Our lunching experience at the Liu Dim Sum Buffet was absolutely satisfying. Now I know where to come for a great Dim Sum Buffet. This time I only got to try 20 selections of Dim Sum – about half of all the 41 selections. I am still stuffed with the Shumai and Rice Bun of the LIU @ Conrad Hotel.
