Reflexions French Restaurant on BumRes.com
The Reflexions is the official French restaurant at the Plaza Athenee on the Wireless Road. I believe this place is one of the only few French restaurants in five star hotels in Bangkok. As far as I can recall, there are Le Normandie and ah… I can’t remember. I believe there are more Italian restaurants in the five star hotels. In terms of the atmosphere, the dark tone contemporary concept of the Reflexions is not as remarkable as the extravagance decoration of the Le Normandie. Food selection of this place may not be so vast since they concentrate on the seasonal menus, creations in accord to the Chef’s best picked ingredients. Like most French Restaurants, Reflexions’s offerings are considered expensive, especially for a place existed within a five star hotel. I believe this place is still cheaper than the Le Normandie.
I ordered a total of five dishes and one bottle of wine. As a complimentary, the restaurant served three lovely treats (see the photos). For the actual appetizers, we had three choices; Foie Gras, Terrine Foie Gras, and Raw Salmon something. Seeing all of them was certainly pleasurable; beautifully presented (too bad the lighting was too dimmed to capture quality photos). My favorite menus, Foie Gras and the Salmon were truly outstanding. Reflexions featured the Terrine as their signature dish, which was a menu that no place had ever impressed me before. To my surprise, Reflexions had completely altered my negative perspective on the Terrine Foie Gras; it was unbelievably delectable.
Two dishes for the main course were Reflexions’s fish specialties. One was the signature dish and other one just appeared eye-catching at the time. Aesthetics of these main dishes couldn't compete with the appetizers, but still had the appetizing appeal. Both were tasty just as expected; we were really impressed with their delicacy. Reflexions’s fine culinary creations were well thought out and carefully prepared. The French flavors may not be breathtaking but all were acceptably satisfying.
With one bottle of fine wine (monthly special recommendation) that cost around 1,500 Baht, the bill came to roughly 4,500 Baht. Fortunately we had the 50% discount, I would be broke otherwise. The overall experience at the Reflexions was enjoyable. Servers were awesome, food was great, and the atmosphere was unique – in your future special occasion, Reflexions is promising to please your senses. (And lighten your pocket a bit, lol…)
