The Klang Soi is a Thai restaurant in the Soi Thonglor 13.  Its name, Klang Soi means being in the mid part of the street (Soi).  I am not sure if the restaurant is located in the mid part of the Soi Thonglor 13 but the place is next to the Smitivej Hospital, on the side that would lead you to the Prompong.  My brother had come here before and he said that it was good and cheap.  We tried to come here once before but the place was closed.  Today we were planning to drive by the Klang Soi to see if it was open.  If it weren’t open, we would go to eat something in the Prompong area instead.  Fortunately the Klang Soi happened to be open for business.  We were the only party inside the restaurant.  The set up of this place was like a residential converted into a restaurant.  There were many tables, seemed like they could host a good number of crowd.

The Klang Soi has many dishes in the menu, at least a hundred choices.  Average price is very cheap considering its location within the High Society neighborhood; ranged around 100 baht per dish.  There were three of us on this visit and we ordered six dishes total.  First one was the Kang Pa Neau – Beef Curry Soup; at 105 baht, the portion was larger than I expected.  It was a delicious dish; perfectly spiced for city people.  Second dish was the Tao Jeaw Lon at 80 baht – a Creamy Beancurd Paste with ground pork served with fresh vegetables.   The portion of this menu was smaller but it was tasty.  Third one was stir-fried noodles with ground beef.  For 85 baht, we got a load of ground beef in the nicely flavored noodles.  All of us stormed through the noodles so fast and it was all gone.  Fourth menu was the Tod Mun Goong for 80 baht.  This menu was below standard; didn’t look good and tasted so so.  Fifth dish was the Poh Pia Sod for 55 baht – fresh spring rolls with sausage and vegetable stuffing, served with sweet brown gravy.  This one was comparing to MK, nothing too exciting.  Last dish of the meal at the Klang Soi was the Pad Phed Ped Yang for 150 baht – Spicy Duck Stir-fried.  This one was the highlight of the meal – super delicious.  Roasted duck with skins stir-fried in dark red curry paste with mixture of coconut milk; it was less spicy than it appeared at first.  Perfect level of spiciness and the crispy duck skin were the charming aspect of this dish.  Amazing authentic Thai menu – I highly recommend this menu!

The bill totaled to only 705 Baht.  The Klang Soi Thai restaurant didn’t have service charge or Vat.  Thanks to the considerate owner of this fine Thai food shop for not following the mainstream practice of restaurants in Thonglor area.  Many businesses around this area charge everyone tax and service like it is a must-do.  How could a homemade cuisine charge the extras like in hotels?  I don’t get it.  Anyways, sorry for complaining – This restaurant is great overall; food is delicious (mostly), fast preparation, good service, and low price.  I definitely recommend this spot to all of you.  I suggest all of you to come during the common meal time.  Just don’t come for late lunch because they might be closed.
