Shun No Mai - Japanese Buffet Restaurant on BumRes.com

The Shun No Mai at Thonglor Soi 10 – I once gave this restaurant a full score on my previous visit (there are only about 10 perfect tens out of about 700 reviews).  I found a promotion with the Citibank credit card – three heads for the price of two.  So, from the full price of 800 baht to 550 baht, it was not hard to make the decision.  I told my friends and six of them came with me without thinking too much about the bargain.  Shun No Mai offers Japanese buffet.  Their concept is simple – to serve live seafood freshly prepared to every table.  At lunch time, they also have the set lunch available.  And weekends offer is the a la carte buffet that I am reviewing now.

In this meal, the highlight was the Sashimi just like last time.  At Shun No Mai, their best fish is the Hamachi.  Their quality is the best I ever had, properly prepared.  The beautiful cut and the charming taste can beat all the Japanese buffets in the Hotels easily.  For other choices of Sashimi; Salmon, Tuna, Aji – all were great to a Japanese buffet standard in Bangkok.

Other specialties besides the Sashimi, I didn’t feel as excited as the first visit.  Some were average good and others were passable.  To be specific, Tempura was delicious, freshly fried by order.  Stuffed pork omelet and Teppanyaki like hamburg or pork in oyster sauce were all acceptable.  But, the rolls; Maki or California were just below average – I thought.

All in all, Shun No Mai is still remained one of my favorite Japanese buffet.  But a couple of things were less impressive compared to my first visit.  Speaking from a view of having to pay the full price of 800 baht – if you don’t like Sashimi it would be difficult to clearly say that it is worth it.  But, to come to Shun No Mai for all you can eat Sashimi, I highly recommend.  With the promotion, 550 baht is a great bargain, without any doubts.  Please help me be the judge – we all need an opinion from a third party.  I suggest you all to check out the Shun No Mai @ Thonglor, Bangkok
