Rom Sai – hearing just the name, I would conclude that it was an All Thai restaurant.  But, the place actually serves international buffet.  The name - Rom Sai refers to the shade of a mature Banyan tree, which can also mean a shelter or a place than can keep you warm and protect you from harm.  Rom Sai is located on the first floor of the Banyan Tree, a five star hotel on Sathorn road.  At ground floor, the restaurant has a view of the Banyan Tree.  Well – Rom Sai is a perfect name for this restaurant.

Being the official buffet of Banyan Tree, I had much expectation of Rom Sai International Buffet since I also have heard so much good things about the quality.  I went there during a weekday; food in the line buffet appeared to be quite ordinary.  So I finally found out that the good things I heard were actually about the Sunday Brunch.  In the Sushi section, all fish were sliced ready to serve – not a fresh cut.  There was no Hamachi – so disappointing.  In the grilling section, nothing exciting was going on – only satay, steaks, and shrimps.  There was also a section of Pastas; several types of pastas and sauces were available.  I had the meat sauce and it was quite delicious.  Moreover, a line buffet of salads, soups, and all the general selections of buffet.  I didn’t try too many things, so I won’t talk much about the food.  Please see the photos of the line buffet of Rom Sai at Banyan Tree hotel.

The reason I went to Rom Sai at Banyan Tree was the Four for Two Promotion, where the total comes to 599++ per person.  In case you want to include the wine buffet, just pay the 999++ price.  You know me – how could I miss the wine buffet?  And two girls had to go for the basic buffet since they couldn’t handle the wine buffet.  Considering all the food selection, the price is quite expensive even with the promotion.  The food didn’t impress me at all.  I mostly enjoy the extra 400 baht for the wine.  Rom Sai at Banyan Tree – please let me know what you think, if you have already been there.
