I am pretty sure that many of you may have gone past the Delicatezza at Thonglor Soi 10.  Personally, I have seen this place ever since I was a kid.  But, I finally got to try when I am almost thirty year old.  This fine Italian restaurant is located among many stylish and unique restaurants.  I must say that the Delicatezza is very much a competitive one among all the restaurants in the street.  Why do I think that Delicatezza is a highlight of the Thonglor soi 10, I will tell you’re here in the review.

The Delicatezza is a fine Italian restaurant resided within a house to restaurant conversion, which made its setting very unique.  I only know briefly about the owner’s background.  Her name is Zariya Paula, I assumed because I see the “Delicatezza by Zariya Paula” on every dishware on the table.  The food is considered very traditional, but sure to please the Thai palates with the spiciness and the garlicky flavoring (as I heard my buddy who eats here often).  Price is high; salad and pasta cost around 300- 500 baht, main course cost around 1,000 or higher.  With the high price, the portion actually grows with the price.  At the Delicatezza @ Thonglor, the value might worth what you pay for.

I started my luxurious meal with the Seafood soup in White wine + mussel (799 baht).  Don’t be scared away with the price, it actually serves two people.  When I got the pot, I swirl to peak on seafood in there, I was more than sure that all was worth 799 baht.  In the soup, tiger prawn and NZ mussels were all over the pot.  They were fresh and delicious.  Moreover, we had the seabass and squid as props in the pot as well.  With all the seafood goodies, the broth was also essential in making this hot an impressive one.  The soup broth of this Seafood soup in white wine was super delicious.  The Delicatezza added chilies and garlic to please all the locals just like I heard.  This soup reminded me of the Tom Yum Seafood of Thai Cuisine but the taste is much less tangy but more aromatic.  I had no idea what goods they put in there but my brother and I finished it to the last drip.

About the second dish at Delicatezza, it was just not as impressive as the first one.  It was the Prawn spaghetti in black ink sauce (420 baht).  Everything on the plate was black, even all the tiger prawn.  Spaghetti was the really thin type, very much like the angel hair.  The appearance was very appetizing with the overwhelming black ink.  As I tried to stir the pasta up, they were kind of dried and stuck together.  I sensed that it wasn’t going to be good and I was right again.  We had to pull the pile of clumpy pasta apart.  It was not that bad, but I kind of regretted paying 420 baht for this menu at Delicatezza.  Next up was the Seabass sun dried tomatoes, black olive and caper (590 baht).  Large piece of Seabass was mouthwatering.  Of course, the fish was very fresh but the downside of this menu was the sauce that tasted so weird.  It didn’t go well with the fish for some reason.  I don’t know if it was me or the menu that was out of line, lol… Somebody be the judge please! At Delicatezza @ Thonglor Soi 10

The bill at Delicatezza totaled to almost 2,500 baht and we only got three dishes – quite expensive, don’t you think? After this meal, I called my friend again – the guys that recommended this place.  He said that recently they have been inconsistent for the taste.  I assumed that the soup was prepared by the owner but the pasta and the main course weren’t.  The lady who was the owner was outside talking with customers after my soup was served.  It seemed like my last two dishes didn’t get QC by Zuriya Paula, so it didn’t come out as impressive as it should be.  Next time I would have to request my food to be done by Zuriya Paula, lol…  If you get to know her personally, I think she would make sure your food comes out the best possible.

Oh, btw – servers were really nice.  I felt like I receive a five star service.  The residential atmosphere further added the homemade feel.  If the quality is more consistent, the Delicatezza would fall into my favorite restaurant list without any doubts.
