Mei Jieng Chinese Food in Chiang Mai on BumRes.com

Mei Jieng is a Chinese restaurant with Sze Chuan style, located at the Chiang Mai Land in Chiang Mai.  A friend of mine recommended this eat out spot.  His high standard place of selection is ensuring to me, so I had high expectation of Mei Jieng.  As a result, we weren’t disappointed and pretty much stormed through the food on the table.  The only down point was that they were out of many good dishes on my visit.  We must have missed out on some good stuff.

As I mentioned earlier, this place serves Se Chuan style Chinese food.  Menu selection is vast, separated by meats, vegetables, noodles, rice, etc.  Price range was reasonably cheap; mostly no more than 200 Baht a plate.  Staffs were from foreign land just like the food.  They couldn’t really speak Thai and didn’t understand some of the things we said.  Lucky there was one Thai server, which helped us a bit.  Besides the communication issue, everything else about the service was not to blame.

We ordered so much food and almost all of them were so good.  I can’t remember all of the items we order, so I will refer to only the ones I was more impressed.  First one would be the Bacon chunk with preserved vegetables.  I am so sorry that I didn’t get the name for you and usually most Chinese places won’t disappoint anyone with this menu.  This Bacon menu at the Mei Jieng is better than most.  Second dish would be the Bamboo pith soup; the subtle flavor with mild aromatic broth was deliciously soothing.  Last of the favorites would be the Kwang Jao Fried Rice.  Chinese restaurants always impress me with their fried rice.

The total damage was 5,000 Baht for ten people, so about 500 baht per person.  Not too expensive considering the amount of food we had.  I am not sure how well known is Mei Jieng for people in Chiang Mai.  Personally, I want to tell you that this Chinese restaurant has top class skills to compete with the Top Chinese joints in Bangkok with ease.
